How Zakat is calculated
Add up your gold, silver, cash, bank balance, money owed to you and business stock, then subtract debts that are due now. If the total is at or above the nisab and you have held it for one Islamic (lunar) year, Zakat is 2.5% of the total.
- Silver nisab: 52.5 tola (612.36 g) of silver. Most scholars in Pakistan apply this when you own a mix of assets.
- Gold nisab: 7.5 tola (87.48 g) of gold. Applies when you own only gold and nothing else.
Please note: this calculator follows the common Hanafi method used in Pakistan. For special cases (gifts, loans, property for rent, agricultural produce) ask a qualified scholar.
Questions
Do I pay Zakat on my house, car or household items?
No. Things for personal use (your home, car, furniture, clothes) are not counted. Property or goods bought to sell are counted.
Does the bank deduct Zakat automatically?
For some savings accounts in Pakistan, Zakat is deducted on the 1st of Ramadan unless you have submitted a declaration (CZ-50). If it was deducted, count that amount as already paid.
Is my data saved?
No. The calculation happens in your browser and nothing is stored or sent.
