CGPA to percentage: how it works
Many job and admission forms in Pakistan ask for a percentage even when your degree uses CGPA. If your university gives a conversion formula, use it. Otherwise the common method is CGPA ÷ 4 × 100. Enter your CGPA below to see both.
What is 3.0 CGPA in percentage?
75% with the simple formula (3.0 ÷ 4 × 100). Your university's formula may give a different figure.
What is 3.5 CGPA in percentage?
87.5% with the simple formula.
How GPA and CGPA are calculated
GPA = (credit hours × grade points, added up for every course) ÷ total credit hours. CGPA is the same calculation across all your semesters, so a new CGPA = (old CGPA × old credits + semester GPA × semester credits) ÷ all credits.
Example: A (4.0) in a 3-credit course and B (3.0) in a 2-credit course gives (12 + 6) ÷ 5 = 3.6.
Questions
How do I convert CGPA to percentage for a job or admission form?
Use your university's own formula if your transcript or rules give one; otherwise many employers accept CGPA ÷ 4 × 100. When in doubt, write both the CGPA and the percentage.
Can I still reach my target CGPA?
Use the "CGPA & target" tab. If the GPA you need is above 4.0, the target can't be reached next semester, but it may be over two or more semesters.
Does a failed course count?
An F usually counts as 0 points with its credit hours until you repeat it. Universities have different repeat rules; check yours.
