Urdu word counter: how it works
Paste or type Urdu text to count words, characters, sentences and paragraphs as you type. Sentences ending in ۔ or ؟ are counted correctly, and you can also see how many SMS an Urdu message will take.
How are Urdu words counted?
Words are separated by spaces, just as in English. Joined words without a space count as one.
Why does my Urdu SMS use more messages?
Urdu is sent as Unicode, which fits 70 characters per SMS instead of 160.
About this word counter
It counts as you type: words, characters with and without spaces, sentences, paragraphs, reading and speaking time. It understands Urdu punctuation (۔ and ؟), so Urdu essays and posts are counted correctly too.

How many SMS will my message take?
A normal English SMS holds 160 characters. If the message has any Urdu or emoji, the phone sends it as Unicode, and one SMS holds only 70 characters. The calculator shows how many parts your message will take.
How long is a 1,000-word essay to read or speak?
About 5 minutes to read silently (200 words per minute) and about 8 minutes to speak (130 words per minute).
Is my text saved or sent anywhere?
No. Counting happens in your browser and nothing is stored.
