With or without dashes.

This checks the format only. It can't tell whether a CNIC belongs to a real person or an account exists: only NADRA and the bank can. Numbers are checked on your device and never sent anywhere.

IBAN checker: how it works

Type or paste an IBAN to check its length and check digits, which catch nearly every typing mistake, and see the bank. A Pakistani IBAN has 24 characters: PK, 2 check digits, 4 letters for the bank and the 16-digit account number.

What does a Pakistani IBAN look like?

PK36 SCBL 0000 0011 2345 6702: PK, two check digits, the bank code (SCBL is Standard Chartered) and 16 digits.

Does a valid IBAN mean the account exists?

No. It only means the number is written correctly; the bank confirms the account.

Check a CNIC or IBAN before you submit a form

A single wrong digit in a CNIC or IBAN can bounce a salary payment, a refund or a job application. The checker formats the number properly, catches wrong lengths and misplaced dashes, and for IBANs checks the two check digits (they catch almost every typing mistake) and shows which bank the account is with.

Questions

What does the CNIC number tell you?

The first digit shows the region where the card was first issued (for example 3 is Punjab, 4 Sindh), and the last digit is odd for men and even for women.

How do I find my IBAN?

It's in your banking app (account details), on your cheque book or bank statement, or you can ask your branch.

Can this tell me if an IBAN is real?

No. A correct IBAN can still belong to a closed account. It only confirms that the number is written correctly.
